Former Minister of Industry, Baek Woon-gyu, who requested an arrest warrant by the prosecution, was charged with abuse of authority and obstruction of work.

The suspicion that former Minister Baek pressed on officials from the Ministry of Industry two years ago to have KHNP decide to shut down the Wolseong nuclear power plant immediately, allegedly abused the power.

It is said that the prosecution confirmed this situation by calling the former Minister Baek, followed by officials from the Ministry of Industry and KHNP officials.

However, for the decision to shut down the nuclear power plant, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy and KHNP both considered not only economic feasibility, but also comprehensively,” said Secretary Baek.

The prosecution also applied the charges of obstruction, seeing that the fact that industrial officials secretly deleted 530 nuclear power plant data files on a holiday night was related to the secretary of Baek Jeon.

Three officials from the Ministry of Industry who executed the file deletion have already been handed over to trial.

It is known that the warrant examination to determine whether or not to be arrested will be held at the beginning of next week. Expect to focus.

It is also expected that there will be momentum in the investigation of the top elections, such as Chae Hee-bong, president of Korea Gas Corporation, who was then the Blue House industrial policy secretary.
