The police investigated after receiving reports that suspected signs of abuse were found in the body of a 7-month-old boy.



According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Police Agency today (3rd), a report from the hospital was filed with the police that a 7-month-old infant who was admitted to a hospital in Jeju City at around 3:25 pm on the 29th of last month is suspected of being abused.



The hospital confirmed that the infant had a rib fracture and multiple abdominal organ damage due to external shock.



The hospital also reported that the infant was believed to have suffered rib damage in the past.



It is known that this infant had severe liver damage when hospitalized and had a liver level of 20 times the normal level, indicating the degree of inflammation.



In a police investigation, the infant's parents denied child abuse, saying, "My son was injured while riding a'jumperru', a kind of baby swing in the house.



The infant is currently being treated in the intensive care unit, but his condition improves and is expected to be transferred to a general ward sooner or later.



The police will hold an integrated child abuse case meeting to obtain expert advice from protection agencies, doctors and lawyers.
