Headphone manufacturers like Jabra have a major problem: they don't make mobile phones and they can't sell you with their terminals the need for wireless headphones that supposedly communicate better with their products.

What happens in many cases is that these companies develop technologies that are limited to their own mobiles, making their capacity much worse than those of the competition.

Come on, they want you to use their brand yes or yes because that is how they sound 'better'.

The Jabra Elite 85T live outside of this: they don't rely on iOS or Android to sound great and have proprietary Active Soundproofing (ANC) technology.

To that we must add that they are comfortable, relatively discreet and have a good battery.

They are not cheap, as they cost more than 200 euros, but they are in line with the price at which their competitors in this category are managed.

Because they are not mid-range or low-end headphones either: they are the most loaded with technologies and, for that reason, you have to take into account before buying them if you need all that in your day to day.

The first thing you need to ask yourself is: do you need active noise cancellation?

The answer, even if you don't know what this technology is, is yes.

We use headphones like the Jabra Elite 85T in noisy places: a gym or the street when we exercise, a subway car while we go to work, an office with noisy colleagues ... So eliminating those noises is something that is appreciated and that I wish all headphones had.

The soundproofing that the Elite 85T offer is amazing, it is adjustable from the headphone app, it stops by itself when someone starts talking so you can hear them well and, in general, it is superior to that of other competitors, although they never go to outshine what headband headphones like the Sony WH-1000xm4 do.

In return, you gain the portability and convenience of having much smaller, easy-to-carry headphones.

You will always carry them in their case, of course, but it is so small that it fits anywhere, including the pocket of jeans.

But the convenience of transport is nothing if there is no comfort in wearing them.

Luckily these headphones are if you have ears like mine.

If you have tiny ears like my partner, impossible, they don't even fit.

Something to always keep in mind: no matter how much headphone manufacturers want, there are people who cannot wear this format 'in-ear', or inside the ear, and in the end they end up going for some normal AirPods almost at the force.

This is about the little negative that I can point out about the headphones.

I usually always hate the mic that bluetooth headsets come with, but Jabra got it right.

By including six microphones for voice and noise cancellation, the result in a call is very good, almost as good as with Apple and Samsung headsets, which are usually the best in this category.

I leave the most important to last.

Sound good?

Yes, scary, possibly from the headphones in its category that work better even with the soundproofing activated, which in some products from other brands affects the sound quality.

The bass is slightly accentuated and voices may sometimes fade a bit at certain pitches, but overall the Elite 85T's sound is exceptional and I consider them one of my favorite headphones for listening to music alongside the Sony WF-1000XM3. .

Most manufacturers aim for a full enough sound that their headphones will cope well with any genre, and this is the case.

Only in moments when a very high-pitched voice sounds at the same time as a base with very, very exaggerated bass could you notice the sonic limit of these headphones.

But of course, it is something that one not only can, but must expect from headphones that cost more than 200 euros.

Hence I come back to my question.

Do you need all this?

Do you talk so much on headphones?

Do you need that extra insulation?

Doy you have good ear for music?

If the answer is negative to two of these questions, you may not need an Elite 85T.

But if the answer is yes to all of them, these headphones can scare you and make you feel very satisfied for what you are paying.

Jabra 75T

An important mention to the Jabra 75T

Although they are the previous model that the 85Ts replace, Jabra has included several new features in this model through firmware updates, which is almost an exception in the technological world in which we live.

Noise cancellation, while not as effective as in the new model, is now activated in these headphones and hardly hurts their battery life and hasn't messed up their sound at all.

If you have this model, or if you don't want to spend the 200 euros for the 85T, the benefits included in the 75T make them also highly recommended headphones that can be found at a lower price.
