The images quickly went viral.

A video shared more than 40,000 times on Facebook since January 25, shows a pharmacist performing an antigen test with Coca-Cola, and obtaining a positive result for Covid-19.

"From what I am told ... It seems that Coca-Cola makes the virus test positive.

We will check it today, ”explains the pharmacist at the start of the video.

The man then pours three drops of the carbonated drink on an antigen test developed by AAZ.

“If he turns positive, it's crazy.

I may be obliged to declare to the Social Security that Mr. Coca-Cola is positive ", he explains, before announcing a minute later:" The Coca test is positive for Covid ... Incredible!

», Then adding ironically« If you drink Coke, you get the corona ».

A joke "between friends"

This video has been picked up by many conspiratorial sites, which have taken this demonstration at face value.

Because it was actually a joke.

The author of the video has indeed claimed that it was a joke.

“We were messing around with friends.

I did it because a lot of patients of mine tell me "Yes, it seems that if we drink Coke we have the Covid" (...) I took the test and I sent it to a group like that and then they had to send it to friends of theirs and it went like that, ”the pharmacist told AFP Factuel.

This joke, widely shared on social networks, in any case did not make laugh the Union of the unions of dispensing pharmacists (USPO) in France.

She denounced in a statement "an attempt at irresponsible and inappropriate humor".

Antigenic tests

📣 The USPO strongly denounces a video which hijacks the good use of antigenic tests.

Faced with the virality of this video relaying false information, Facebook was also forced to add a warning message alongside the publication for "lack of context" likely to mislead people.
