The video of assaulting the elderly in public places such as the Gyeonggi Uijeongbu Light Railroad spread online, and the police decided to apply the elder abuse crime to controversial middle school students.

The Uijeongbu Police Department announced today (27th) that A (13, middle 1) and B (13, middle 1) forces were charged with violating the Elderly Welfare Act and will be sent to the court's juvenile department sooner or later.

According to the Elderly Welfare Act, if the abuse of the elder is admitted, it can be punished by imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine of up to 50 million won.

The sentence is heavier than the crime of assault that was originally applied.

However, as all of the perpetrators are criminal minors under the age of 14 (legal juveniles), criminal charges will not be filed, and the juvenile department of the court is expected to seek protection.

Protective dispositions are divided into No. 1 through No. 10, and the intensity of disposition may increase as the provisions of the applicable law have changed.

On the 21st, the police tracked down and investigated the perpetrators of the Uijeongbu Light Rail and Subway Elderly assault videos, which were posted on social network services (SNS) such as Facebook.

The video shows a male student choking an elderly woman on the Uijeongbu Light Railroad and knocking it down to the floor.

The two also exchanged severe swear words with each other.

In another video, a male student sitting in the seat of an elderly person on the subway and having an argument with an elderly male and swearing while listening to admonitions were filmed.

Army A and Army B admitted the crime in a police investigation, but insisted that "(the elderly) did it by complaining first."

It was investigated that the footage of the assault was shot by another group of them.

C, a woman in her 70s, who is a victim in the light rail video, told the police her intention to punish the police, and who the elderly male in the subway video is yet to be identified.

A police official said, "The case of elder abuse is not a crime that cannot be punished if the victim indicates that he does not want to punish the perpetrator, so the case can be handled without investigation of the victim." Even if it doesn't work, we will be able to close the case by sending it back.”
