The government has also started working-level consultations with the US pharmaceutical company Modena to develop a domestic vaccine.



Both Modena and Pfizer's vaccines, which have been approved by the US FDA, are mRNA-based vaccines that induce immune responses by making antigenic proteins. Among the seven vaccine candidates in clinical trials in Korea, there is no mRNA-based vaccine.
