Lee Sang-ho, former chairman of the Busan Saha-eul Democratic Party, was sentenced to imprisonment on charges of receiving illegal political funds from former Star Mobility chairman Kim Bong-hyun.
The Seoul Southern District Law sentenced Lee, who was handed over to trial for violations of the Political Fund Act today (22nd), and sentenced him to two years in prison and an additional 30 million won.
The judge first decided that the 30 million won received from former Chairman Kim, while Mr. Lee was acting as an executive of the political party, should be regarded as a fund for political activities regardless of the name.
He also said that the purchase of socks from Mr. Lee's younger brother's company could be seen as a property gain in exchange for fraudulent solicitation.
