Lee Jae-yong, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, who was sentenced to two years and six months in jail at a farewell trial for bribing former President Park Geun-hye and others, was imprisoned again after three years and spent the first night in the Seoul Detention Center.

Yesterday (18th), the key to the trial was how the judiciary evaluated the activities of the Compliance Committee, but the judiciary decided that it was not effective and concluded that imprisonment as well as court arrest was inevitable.

Vice-Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who was sentenced to imprisonment in the remand court of destruction, was immediately escorted to the Seoul Detention Center.

In the detention center, according to the quarantine procedures, they will undergo a corona19 diagnostic test and will live alone for 14 days even if they are negative.

Earlier, Vice-Chairman Lee was convicted of bribing former President Park Geun-hye and Choi Seo-won of 8.6 billion won, and was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and imprisoned in court.

It has been three years since he was released on probation at the appeal trial in February 2018.

As the Supreme Court previously admitted 5 billion won more than the appeal court for bribery, it was the activities of the Samsung Compliance Committee, which was launched in February last year, that determined the sentence of Vice Chairman Lee.

Vice-Chairman Lee's side analyzed and submitted several misconduct at the group level in the past, but the court sentenced him to imprisonment, devaluing Lee's side as "not enough to prevent and monitor future risks."

The special prosecutor's position is a natural result, but Vice-Chairman Lee expressed regret.

[Law In-Jae Lee/Jae-Yong Lee's legal representative (Yesterday): The nature of this case was that the company was infringed upon freedom and property rights due to the ex officio abuse of the former president.] The

reactions of civic groups were mixed.

The Participation Solidarity criticized Lee's sentence of two years and six months as "the court abused the sentencing system", and another Barun Social Citizens' Council promised that Lee would not take over his management rights, but the court The court criticized the court that the arrest was excessive.
