She said this at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council under the government to combat coronavirus.

"A new test system is ready for registration, which in a PCR study can determine a new variant of the British strain," RIA Novosti quotes her.

According to her, "this is a platform solution that will allow for any next mutation to create PCR test systems without spending huge amounts of money on sequencing."

Popova also said that an "immunochromatographic test system" for determining the antigen of the virus is ready for registration in Russia.

Earlier, Ancha Baranova, professor at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University, said that the British strain of COVID-19 has a chance to become the most common strain of coronavirus in Russia by March.
