Facebook bans ads for weapon accessories and other military equipment in the United States until the inauguration of new president Joe Biden.
Buzzfeed previously reported that Facebook still showed many ads for holsters and body armor, among other things.
Those ads were spotted on the Facebook timelines of people who responded to reports of Trump supporters storming the Capitol.
Users who were members of right-wing Facebook groups were also shown such advertisements.
Some American politicians wrote a letter to Facebook on Friday demanding that the ads be permanently taken offline.
The social media platform is now temporarily hushing them out "an abundance of caution," the company told Buzzfeed.
Facebook has long banned ads for guns and bullets.
