Due to a malfunction at Google, the CoronaMelder currently does not work for Android users, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports reports Wednesday.

App users with an Android phone will not be notified if they have been close to a positive person due to the malfunction.

The reports will not be lost, they will only come a little later, the ministry says.

Users with an iPhone are not affected by the outage.

The malfunction affects Google's technology behind the reporter, the so-called Android Exposure Notifications System. Google says it is working "with all its might" on a solution. It is not known how long it will take to resolve the failure.
