Social media platform Parler takes Amazon to court for breach of contract and abuse of power, writes

The Hill

.

Amazon discontinued Parler's web hosting on Monday morning.

The tech giant took Parler offline because there would be calls for violence on the social medium.

Amazon had previously warned Parler about this, but the social medium, which is mainly used by conservative Americans, would not have acted adequately.

The role played by the platform in the storming of the Capitol last Wednesday was probably the deciding factor.

Apple and Google removed Parler from their app stores last week.

According to Parler, Amazon measures with double standards for political reasons.

Parler also accuses the company of favoring Twitter and getting in the way of competitors of that social medium.

Parler now demands from the court that taking the service offline will be immediately reversed.
