President Moon Jae-in announced in his New Year's address today (11th) at the Blue House, saying, "We will be able to start vaccination next month," and "We will provide free vaccinations for all citizens in order of priority." 



In this regard, Jung Eun-kyung, head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a briefing today, "We will proceed sequentially according to the vaccine introduction situation."



"However, we believe that it will be difficult to provide individuals with a choice of vaccine," he said. "We plan to start vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine, but the type and timing of the products provided by COVAX are still uncertain, so it is likely to change There is," he added.



Commissioner Chung also said, "We plan to combine two methods, similar to influenza vaccination, by designating an inoculation center to conduct vaccination and by creating a separate vaccination center."



Regarding the formation of collective immunity, he said, "We will be able to form collective immunity by November, considering that we need to receive two vaccinations every 21 or 28 days, and it takes 2-3 weeks to form immunity after vaccination."
