It's time to think about alternatives so that there are no other child abuse victims, and adults don't just feel sorry late.

In order to detect child abuse, which is a covert crime, the role of reporter and informant is very important.

It is also the reason why a doctor or daycare teacher who can first find out about the abuse is designated as a reporter.

Today (9th), let's look at the problems of the child abuse response system through what happened to a doctor who reported suspected child abuse.

Reporter Jo Yoon-ha covered it.

In November of last year, Mr. A, who works as a public health doctor in Sunchang, Jeollabuk-do, examined a 4-year-old child who had an egg-sized bump next to his eye.

We asked for a close examination on the unusual wound.

[Mr. A/Jeonbuk Sunchang Public Health Doctor: The child's facial bones may have been fractured, and there may be eye damage.

You have to go to the ophthalmologist and CT scan, so you have to go to the emergency room and have a close examination...

.]

By the way, I was belatedly heard that the mother of the child said, "Dad threw the child" through the hospital entrance information staff.

The doctor immediately reported to the police.

I was curious about the child's situation and health, but after reporting it, Mr. A could not hear the news.

The police did not even ask for a doctor's opinion about the child, which is the key to determining whether or not the child was abused.

The doctor, who was worried about the child, contacted the guardian directly and persuaded him to undergo further examination, but it was in vain.

The identity of the first reporter was caught in the ears of the child's father due to a police mistake while in agony alone.

"What are you reporting?" threats came.

The police investigation was also hazy, saying, "There are no charges of abuse," and the case was closed.

[Police official: There was no abuse, but the child fell alone.

I hit the door...

The level of punishment, not that much.]

However, the reporters confirmed that even the mother's first statement that "the father threw the child" was not confirmed by the police.

Responses by specialized child protection agencies were also poor.

Considering that the father's behavior was not intentional and promised to prevent recurrence, no investigation was requested.

This child was belatedly designated for management of child abuse cases.

It was a month and a half after my child visited the hospital.

[Mr. A/Jeonbuk Sunchang Public Health Doctor: I was very unhappy and very lonely.

'It's a fight I have to do alone', if another child suspects child abuse,'Can I really report it?'

I was worried about it.]

Strict punishment is also necessary, but only when the person obligated to report, the interest of neighbors, and the organic cooperation of related organizations can prevent misfortune.
