The Supreme Court today (30th) accepted the Seoul Metropolitan Government's request to suspend the property tax reduction measures in Seocho-gu.

The first part of the Supreme Court (Presiding Judge Park Jeong-hwa) said that it had cited a decision in the trial of the suspension of execution of the'Seocho-gu Salvation Ordinance Partial Amendment Ordinance' issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government against Seocho-gu.

As a result, Seocho-gu's property tax reduction measures will be suspended until a judgment is made in the case of requesting invalidity of the amendment of the ordinance.

All related procedures, such as the sending of refund applications that began on the 28th by Seocho-gu, will also be suspended.

The court ruled that "this case is judged to meet the citation requirements of the request for suspension of execution."

Requirements for requesting suspension of execution are the urgency to avoid the occurrence of damages that are difficult to recover, and the possibility of winning the main bill.

Earlier, in September, the Seocho-gu Council decided on an ordinance that would reduce 50% of the property tax for one household for one household with less than 900 million won (25% based on the total property tax) of the 2020 property tax.

As a result, the Seoul Metropolitan Government demanded the reconsideration of Seocho-gu, but Seocho-gu promulgated the ordinance.

Eventually, the city of Seoul filed a lawsuit against the ordinance bill, claiming that the ordinance violates the local tax law, and filed a request for suspension of execution.
