It seems that the government has set in the direction of strengthening quarantine during the year-end and New Year holidays prior to upgrading the third stage of'social distancing' to respond to Corona 19 in Korea.
The main goal is to ban'meetings with more than 5 people' in the metropolitan area, and to strengthen quarantine management for Christmas and New Year holidays.
This is a so-called'tweezer prevention' measure that is taken regardless of whether or not it is upgraded to the third stage.
It is known that Seoul City, Incheon City, and Gyeonggi Province will hold a press conference on the afternoon of the 21st and issue an executive order prohibiting meetings of more than 5 people.
The effective period is from 0 o'clock on the 23rd to January 3rd of next year.
Prohibiting meetings with more than 5 people is a stronger measure than the current ban on meetings of more than 10 people under the 3rd stage of distancing.
In this regard, Sohn Young-rae, head of the Strategic Planning Division of the Central Accident Recovery Headquarters (heavy water version), said at the Corona 19 back briefing today, "The city of Seoul has decided on a policy to issue an administrative order prohibiting gatherings of 5 or more people during the year-end and New Year holidays, and will be announced this afternoon. It was discussed and shared at the main script (Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters) level, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government is implementing some of the measures currently under consideration."
Separately, the government will announce a plan to strengthen quarantine management for Christmas and New Year holidays tomorrow (22nd).
"We are considering strengthening quarantine in relation to the Christmas holiday and January 1 of the New Year," said Son. "We will discuss this with the government and local governments this afternoon and announce the contents tomorrow." .
Mr. Son said, "Regardless of whether the (social distancing) 3 step is upgraded or not, we are discussing quarantine management measures for facilities or gatherings that are currently problematic during the Christmas and New Year holidays."
Regarding the details, he explained, "We will announce measures to strengthen quarantine for winter leisure sports facilities such as ski resorts, trips at sunrise, and nursing hospitals in the metropolitan area where infections in the community are widespread."
General Son said, "We are watching the situation and discussing the decision-making on the 3rd stage (upgrade) at the moment."
He also said that in the event of an upgrade to the third stage, the preparation period will be "secure even 2-3 days and announced" so that multi-use facility operators can respond.
