The launch was streamed live on SpaceX's Twitter page.
The rocket was launched from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral at 09:00 US East Coast time (17:00 Moscow time).
Earlier it was reported that Falcon 9 successfully launched the SXM-7 communications satellite for the American radio company SiriusXM into orbit.
