Nowadays, the sea sandfish on the east coast is in season.

Tourists are also throwing traps in the harbor and on the seashore, and many dangerous situations are occurring.

Reporter Cho Jae-geun covered it.

People gather and throw traps on a dark breakwater and seashore in a harbor in Goseong, Gangwon-do, where night has come.

The pot pulled up after a while contains sandfish.

[It took a few over there.]

It was

caught in a trap

after rushing to the shallow beach to lay eggs.

Hundreds of them can be caught in 1 to 2 hours.

[Tourist catching sandfish: I cut off the head and tail, put it in the freezer, and gave it to a lot of friends, I.] The

use of pots in the port is prohibited.

Outside the port, only one pot is allowed unless you are a fisherman, but there are many people who use several.

[Tourist catching sandfish: 3 pots.

(3 pots?) 15 minutes for 3?

(15 minutes?) Yes, that's about it.] As

people gather at once to catch sandfish, I'm concerned about damage to fishermen.

[Village residents: If it is done indiscriminately, it is the residents who suffer damage anyway.

When the (trap) line was stretched, the line was wrapped around the (fishing boat) screw, and of course, the operation would be impossible.]

There is also a high risk of accidents as you go back and forth on the structure and on the rocks while relying on a flashlight in the dark at night.

In fact, in Goseong and Yangyang on the 6th, two tourists in their 50s who were catching sandfish with traps fell under the breakwater structure and injured their heads and feet.

As the catch of sandfish in recent years has been on the decline, it is expected that we need to accurately identify the amount of catches and to prepare safety accident countermeasures.
