The incident occurred while descending from a given altitude.
The head of SpaceX Elon Musk called the tests successful.
“Successful takeoff, shifting to upper fuel tanks and precise flap control right down to the touchdown point,” he tweeted.
In September, it was reported that SpaceX was preparing to conduct a test flight of the Starship prototype at an altitude of over 18 km.
