After a long restoration project, the half-moon black bear, which is an endangered species, is well adapted to Jirisan Mountain.

It is controversial that the Jirisan Mountain Train and Cable Car projects are being promoted around the habitat of the half-moon bear.

Reporter Park Chan-beom covered the scene.

Five new animals were born in Jirisan this year, and the number of wild half-moon bears has reached at least 69 since the restoration project in 2004.

However, some of the habitats of the half-moon bears are included in the site of the mountain tourism project promoted by Hadong-gun

.

There is.

When the project is confirmed, starting with the environmental impact assessment next year, mountain trains and cable cars with a total length of 17.8km will be built in the area of Hyeongseongbong in 5 years as soon as possible.

Half-moon bears appear several times a year in this area, and there is a hibernation cave within a 2km radius of the train line.

When a mountain train comes in, bears cannot live.

First of all because of the noise...

Within a 500m radius of the planned mountain train route, the ecological nature level 1 ratio exceeds 30%.

There is a wide distribution of Japanese oak trees that produce acorns, which are the main prey for black bears.

Conservation and restoration are the principle of ecological and natural level 1 areas.

Hadong-gun promoted projects not only for vitalizing the local economy but also for the survival of the military itself. It is a position that it is necessary.

[Lee Choong-Yeol/Hadong-gun Tourism Promotion Section Manager: (Due to population decline) As the county itself disappears, I would like to create various human resources and contribute to the local economy.]

Hadong-gun also put train tracks on existing forest roads to destroy the environment. Although it is a plan to minimize it, the conflict is expected to continue for the time being due to the disagreement of opinions already in the community.
