The court dismissed former Star Mobility chairman Kim Bong-hyun's bail claim, who exposed the suspicion of entertainment for prosecutors.
On the 7th, the 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Deputy Judge Shin Hyeok-jae) dismissed a bail claim filed by former Chairman Kim, saying, "There is a fear of fleeing."
Earlier, in connection with the prosecution's request for an additional arrest warrant against him, former chairman Kim requested bail from the court, saying, "We are extending the period of arrest by splitting the charges in each case and requesting a warrant."
He is being arrested and being tried on charges of stealing tens of billions of won in assets from Suwon passengers and the Hyanggun Mutual Inquiry and helping those involved in the escape.
In December of last year, when an arrest warrant was filed against him, he went into hiding and escaped for five months before being arrested in April of this year.
Former Chairman Kim's side requested a conditional bail with electronic devices that can be tracked to the court to dispel concerns about escape, but the court determined that Kim had fears of fleeing.
On the date of the bail hearing, former chairman Kim said, "The prosecution convicted the accused by saying that he would allow him to go to an undisclosed trial, and in some investigations, he did not even notify the right to refuse to state in advance." I insisted.
In response, the prosecution refuted, "There is no fact that the investigative prosecutor convicted the defendant," and said, "Because the prosecution could not be avoided, I only handed over the virtues to get a good trial."
As former Chairman Kim's bail claim is dismissed, the investigation into the'entry door to prison' that he exposed is also expected to speed up.
In a statement released by his attorney in October, former chairman Kim claimed that he had been entertaining with alcohol against three incumbent prosecutors, and that he gave money to lawyers and former investigators who were former prosecutors.
It is known that the prosecution will soon conclude the investigation of the allegations raised and decide whether or not to proceed with the judicial treatment of persons designated for entertainment.
