Daejeon District Law has been interrogating the suspects before arrest of three officials from the Ministry of Industry who have been requested for an arrest warrant in relation to the suspicion of manipulating the economic feasibility of the Wolseong Unit 1 nuclear power plant from 2:30 pm today.

What the prosecution applied to them was allegedly violating the Audit Office Act, damaging public electronic records, and breaking into buildings.

They are suspected of instructing the deletion of related data or implementing it in advance of an audit by the Audit and Inspection Service for the suspicion of manipulating the economic feasibility of the Wolseong Unit 1 nuclear power plant last year.

According to the Board of Audit and Inspection, they were reported to have entered the office of the Ministry of Industry around 11 pm on the previous Sunday night after meeting with the auditor of the Board of Audit and Inspection on December 2 of last year and deleted 444 documents related to Wolseong Unit 1.

Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol received a report from the investigation team the day after returning to work, and assigned the time of request for a warrant to the Daejeon District Prosecutor's Office, and the investigation team requested a warrant for arrest.

The results of the arrest warrant screening will come out as early as late this evening. If the warrant is issued, the prosecution's investigation into former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Woon-gyu and former Cheong Wa Dae industrial policy secretary, etc. is expected to begin in earnest.
