We can see a little more clearly.

Operators SFR and Orange have unveiled the list of cities that will participate in the coming days in the first commercial launch of 5G in France.

In Pays-de-la-Loire, only two cities are ultimately concerned: Angers and Le Mans.

Both are in fact listed among the 15 cities subject to a national deployment of this new mobile technology by Orange from Thursday.

As for SFR, the operator of the Altice group announced on Tuesday a list of 120 municipalities covered from December but none appear in the Pays-de-la-Loire region.

The absence of Nantes, the main agglomeration of the Great West, may be surprising.

This is in fact a consequence of the desire for debate prior to any commissioning of 5G demanded by the president of Nantes Métropole, Johanna Rolland (PS).

Orange and SFR have decided to comply with it, despite their intention to deploy in the City of the Dukes.

"The discussions must not go on forever"

"We respect the choice of the community," says Franck Coudrieau, West regional delegate of the Altice-SFR group.

We will not activate 5G until the debate has delivered its conclusions.

We are ready, our antennas are operational, but we will not activate them before the end of the debate, unless another operator launches its 5G, considering that we are in an extremely competitive market.

"

The modalities and the timetable for the debate have not yet been revealed by Nantes Métropole.

Will the operators be able to be patient if it were to stretch over several months?

“As long as the details of the debate are not known, I cannot project myself on what we could do or not do.

It must be in a sufficiently interesting period of time for all the discussions on the subject to be conducted.

But these should not go on forever, ”replies Franck Coudrieau, who wants an“ open and peaceful ”debate.

“We don't want to go through in force.

We favor dialogue and conviction, ”said Thursday in
