Former President Chun Doo-hwan (89) was convicted of defamation of lions against witnesses of 5·18 helicopter shooting.



Judge Kim Jung-hoon, who was solely responsible for the 8th criminal justice of the Gwangju District Court, sentenced Mr. Jeon to eight months in prison and two years of probation in the 201 Criminal Supreme Court.



The statutory criterion for defamation of a lion is imprisonment for up to two years, imprisonment, or a fine of up to 5 million won.



In a memoir published in 2017, Jeon was accused of defaming Father Jobio, who testified that he witnessed a helicopter shot by the military during the May 18 period, accusing him of being ``a unscrupulous liar with no color for the word bride.''



During the May 18 Democratization Movement, the judge admitted military helicopter shooting at his own people.



The judge said that he hoped that the accused, who was the most responsible for the May 18, would sincerely apologize to the many people who have suffered, but Mr. Jeon was consistently nodded at trial on the day.
