Michael van Gerwen reached the final of the Players Championship Finals on Sunday.

The defending champion was 11-8 too strong for Gerwyn Price in the last four in Coventry.

Van Gerwen started his match poorly against Price, who took a 3-0 lead thanks to a finish of 104.

De Brabander then recovered and leveled the score again.

At 4-4, Price missed three doubles to pull his own leg, after which Van Gerwen struck.

That break immediately gave the Dutchman, who threw an average of more than 110 per three arrows in the first phase of the match.

After that, the two remained evenly matched and got the necessary opportunities for a break.

Price led 8-6, but Van Gerwen then took five legs in a row.

He decided the game with a double eight.

Earlier in the day, Van Gerwen settled in a high-quality match with his fellow countryman Dirk van Duijvenbode: 10-5.

In that match he recorded an impressive average of 110.01.

Van Duijvenbode, who threw seven 180'ers, contrasted with an average of 103.26.
