In an interview with the Journal du Dimanche, the Secretary of State in charge of digital, Cédric O, assured that controls on the level of electronic waves of 5G will triple next year.

He added that the health impact of these waves was "one of the most documented public health issues".

Next year there will be 10,000 checks carried out on the level of electronic waves, or three times more than in 2020, half of which will relate to 5G, assured the Secretary of State for Digital Cédric O, in an interview with Sunday Newspaper.

"The most resistant will eventually accept 5G"

The question of the health impact of electronic waves is "one of the most documented public health subjects", replied Cédric O, questioned about the moratorium requested by the citizens' convention on the deployment of 5G in France.

"There are nearly 28,000 studies on the subject (...) All converge to the same conclusion: there is no demonstrated impact below health standards. Exposure levels in France are on average 200 times below these standards, "said the Secretary of State.

However, to answer questions, Cédric O assured that controls on exposure levels would triple in 2021. "But under these conditions, the government assumes its deployment," he continued.

The Secretary of State also regretted "among environmentalists and among some left-wing mayors a political instrumentalisation of the subject".

"I have no doubt, however, for a moment that even the most resistant like Éric Piolle [EELV mayor of Grenoble opposed to 5G] will end up accepting 5G in the coming months," he said.

Finally, Cédric O believes that nothing is preventing the deployment of 5G in Paris by the end of the year.

"If the operators want to light, they can," he explained to the JDD.
