Towards more notifications for users?

The distance and duration criteria of the TousAntiCovid mobile application, which aims to facilitate the information of people who have been in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19, have been modified, according to a decree published in the Official Journal , this Saturday.

The application has so far been downloaded by 9.8 million users, a better record than its ancestor, StopCovid.

But to date, it has only sent 14,000 notifications to potential contact cases, a relatively low number.

TousAntiCovid, which replaced StopCovid, uses the Bluetooth signal from its user's phone to detect a nearby smartphone and anonymously establish that several people have passed each other.

The other users with whom a sick person has remained in prolonged contact during his period of contagiousness are thus notified by a notification.

Until now, the application has taken into account contacts that have taken place at a distance of less than one meter for at least 15 minutes.

From now on, TousAntiCovid will take into account contacts between two users at a distance of one meter or less for five minutes, but also contacts at a distance ranging from more than one meter to two meters, for fifteen minutes.
