Logistics service providers Simon Loos and Peter Appel Transport announced on Thursday that they would merge and continue under the name Simon Loos.

The merger creates a transport company with fourteen hundred trucks.

The merger should enable the newly formed company to continue to invest in matters such as digitization and sustainability.

"We anticipate the logistics landscape and the requirements of tomorrow", says Peter Appel in a response.

Since both Simon Loos and Peter Appel Transport are active in so-called food retail and work for the same customers to a large extent - Albert Heijn is one of them - a merger was an obvious choice, the companies say.

"Our companies connect seamlessly. This step is therefore more than logical with a view to tomorrow. And it also offers all kinds of new opportunities for our customers, partners and employees", says Simon Loos.

More than three thousand people will immediately work at the new Simon Loos, spread over more than sixty locations in the Netherlands.
