KCTU has decided to hold a general strike as scheduled today (25th).

Although the government announced the principle of zero tolerance, the KCTU announced that it would hold simultaneous assembly with a small group of less than 10 people.

Democratic Party has repeatedly expressed concern over the general strike of the KCTU.

[Han Jeong-ae / Chairman of the Democratic Party's Policy Committee: (I know (I know) that the biggest damage from the re-proliferation of Corona 19 goes back to essential workers, small business owners, who can be considered weak in our society.) (At this time) it is wise to enforce a rally. This is not the way.]

Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun also said, "We will respond strongly to the rally that threatens the safety of the people and shakes quarantine with the principle of zero tolerance."

However, the KCTU dismissed the request for refraining from the assembly, saying, "Do not make a sacrifice."

It is said that a general strike is an inevitable option in a situation where the National Assembly and the government postpone the legislation of the Three Acts of Jeon Tae-il, such as the Act on Punishment for Severe Accidents, which are demanded by workers, and push for amendments to the Labor Union Act that the labor community opposes.

[Kim Jae-ha/Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions Emergency Response Committee: People suffering from Corona 19 are also workers.

It is the current politics that there is nothing going on and not a single word about the demands of workers...

.]

The amendment to the labor union law is intended to expand freedom of association, such as allowing unemployed and dismissed to join the union, but it also reflects some of the demands of the management community, such as prohibiting strikes over major facilities at business sites and extending the validity period of collective agreements to three years.

The KCTU, however, accepted the quarantine guidelines and decided to cancel the assembly in front of the National Assembly and hold small gatherings of less than 10 people in front of the Democratic Party district offices throughout the city.

[Yang Dong-gyu/Chairman of the Non-Captain of the KCTU: Even if a large number of people are not gathered, the political message and pressure (I plan to put it clearly) is also in line with the quarantine (guidelines).]

This is the first general strike of the KCTU.
