Less than a week after its deployment, Twitter's Fleets function fell victim to a bug.
Inspired by stories like you find on Snapchat, Instagram or Facebook, Fleets allow users to post photos, messages or videos that have a lifespan of 24 hours.
They are accessible during this time as bubbles at the top of the timeline.
Problem: these Fleets are finally visible for a longer period.
They can be viewed and also downloaded, without the author being notified,

That thing you didn't Tweet but wanted to but didn't but got so close but then were like nah.
We have a place for that now — Fleets!

The American social network acknowledges this: “We are aware of a bug where the URLs of certain Fleets media can be accessed after 24 hours.
We are working on a fix that should be implemented soon, ”a Twitter spokesperson said in an email to

Fleets kept for 30 days by Twitter
Fleets must disappear after 24 hours only for the public.
Twitter keeps them for 30 days on its servers, in case some of them violate the terms of use of the social network.
This one should quickly correct the shooting to make the Fleets fully ephemeral.
In addition, the Fleets has a special status.
It is not possible to like it, or even to share it.
You can only reply to the author of a tweet via a private message.
