In addition to the youth employment difficulties, the number of young female funeral instructors is increasing as more and more bereaved families prefer to have funeral instructors of the same sex when the deceased is a woman.
From 2012 to May this year, 153 women in their twenties out of the 5,264 people who received a funeral instructor license issued by the city of Seoul.
However, it is true that there is a negative perception of young female funeral instructors in Korean society, where the Confucian tradition still remains.
