Today (12th), there is one more order from Minister Choo Mi-ae.

As Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon, who is currently under investigation, did not keep telling the investigation team his mobile phone password that he submitted to the prosecution, he asked him to consider creating a law that would force the password to be submitted to prevent such a case in the future.

Controversy over this directive is a violation of human rights and against the constitution.

Reporter Lim Chan-jong will deliver this information.

Minister Chu Mi-ae argued that Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon "is maliciously hiding the mobile phone password and is interfering with the investigation."

It is interpreted that the prosecution's failure to prosecute a prosecutor in connection with the alleged attempted coercion by a reporter for Channel A is because a prosecutor cannot view the mobile phone message because a prosecutor did not submit a password.

Meanwhile, Minister Choo Mi-ae said he had instructed the Ministry of Justice to review legislation that would force the submission of passwords for mobile phones.

Then, former lawmaker Tae-seop Geum pointed out, "What is the difference from the law that says that if you force a confession and do not confess, you will be penalized?", and former professor Jin Jung-kwon of Dongyang University also criticized Chu, saying, "Rather legalize torture."

The Justice Party also made a comment and urged "Minister Choo Mi-ae to immediately withdraw the wrong order to suppress the human rights of the people and apologize to the people."

In response to criticism, Minister Choo Mi-ae posted a post on Facebook, arguing that the UK has punished for failing to provide passwords even though court decisions have been made since 2007.

However, in Korea, in 2002 and 2010, the Ministry of Justice attempted to introduce an obstruction of judicial punishment to punish false statements in investigative agencies, but was blocked.

It is because they strongly opposed Minbyun and the solidarity of participation, as well as the Supreme Court.

At the time, the Solidarity of Participation opposed the introduction of a crime of obstruction in order to strengthen the prosecutor's right to exercise discretion, saying that it would cause a serious imbalance in criminal justice, and pointed out that the Supreme Court was also conducive to investigation and that there are many potential for human rights violations.

Minister Choo Mi-ae seems to argue that the law for obstruction of justice and the mandatory password submission method promoted in the past seems to be inevitable, but some pointed out that it is the same that restricts the person being investigated to conceal information unfavorable to him.
