The ready-mixed concrete company caught by the police is Company A located in the metropolitan area.
The executives of this company, such as B, are accused of making and delivering ready-mixed concrete with lower cement and gravel content than the ratio agreed to with the construction company from 2017 to October last year.
The police said that they received a program to manipulate the ratio of ready-mixed concrete from the program developer, and then actually delivered the under-contained ready-mixed concrete, and submitted documents to the construction company as if they had been delivered at the normal rate, police said.
Inappropriate ready-mixed concrete used in over 400 construction sites such as apartments and officetels in the metropolitan area is worth 200,000 units, worth KRW 90 billion in market price.
In addition, 9 employees of 9 construction companies were charged with receiving 50 million won worth of money from 14 ready-mixed concrete companies, including Company A, asking for permission to tolerate any defects in ready-mixed concrete quality.
The police arrested two people, including A company executive B, who led the supply of inappropriate ready-mixed concrete.
As it is revealed that nonconforming ready-mixed concrete has been supplied to construction sites in the metropolitan area for more than two years, the police plan to conduct strength tests in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the National Institute of Technology and Standards.
