China announced this Friday, via its United States Embassy, that it had just launched a test satellite for 6G.

In total, thirteen satellites were sent into space during this mission, aboard the Long March-6 rocket.

The latter left the center of Taiyuan in Shanxi province, reports

China said it wants to experiment with terahertz waves and test communications from space.

The China Global Television channel indicates that the country plans to experiment with several applications in different fields: environment, smart city, forest fire monitoring, etc.

6G available in several years

However, 6G is still a long way off.

And the use of its name raises questions since it would first require an international consensus to determine what this new mobile network would be.

Currently, discussions are only at the early stages.

6G should not see the light of day for several years.

But one hypothesis joins the Chinese test: the use of the terahertz frequency between 0.1 and 10 THz, which would make it possible to obtain a faster speed than that of 5G, currently used.
