"Ah! Alive! Alive!"

At around 1pm on the 13th of last month, an 8-year-old sister and a 6-year-old younger brother and sister, who visited Pyoseon Beach in Jeju Island, were swept away by tide and fell into deep water.

The brothers and sisters who were playing at the height of the children's knees were pushed by the low tide and reached a place where the depth of the water suddenly deepened.

It was then that Park Kyung-soo, who had been to Jeju for work, heard the voice of the mother of her child in need.

At the cry that the child fell into the water, Mr. Park said, "I took off my clothes without thinking about it," and swam about 50m to approach the child.

Park, who jumped into the sea with no life-saving equipment, was amazed at the deep water and strong currents.

He thought, "I drank a lot of water and pushed out a girl (the 8-year-old sister), but I was very tired. I thought more than I would die because of the current."

While Park rescued her 8-year-old sister by land, her 6-year-old younger brother drifted away to the safety line.

Lim Joo-hyun (48) and Kang Kang-woo (57), who were nearby, jumped into the sea and rescued their 6-year-old younger brother who had lost consciousness.

The six-year-old younger brother was unconscious at the time, and Lim continued CPR with chest compressions, and Kang was able to save the life of a precious child by taking emergency measures by rubbing the child's leg.

Citizens' videos filmed at the scene of the accident from a distance contain the voices of the residents cheering, "I survived!", showing the urgent situation at the time.

With the courageous actions of three people Park Kyung-soo, Lim Joo-hyun and Kang Kang-woo, the children were safely transferred to the hospital and treated.

The children were treated at a nearby hospital, but they got better and were discharged.

In an interview with the SBS reporter, Park asked if he had anything to say to the children, "Is there anything else. I want to listen to my parents and serve others and grow up nicely. I'm healthy."

They are also the protagonists of this year's 119 Righteous Person Award.

The Fire Department selects and awards 119 righteous people who are committed to protecting people's lives and property at the risk of taking risks at the scene of a disaster or accident.

In particular, Lim, who worked as a safety officer at Pyoseon Beach until September 25, saved a high school girl from the same place in August 2016.

Park also has a history of saving one middle school girl from a beach in Busan in 2008 and two middle school boys from a valley in Miryang, Gyeongnam in 2014, the Fire Department said.

The 119 Righteous Person Award this year was also awarded by Cha Gil-hwan, 62, who saved three teenage boys and their mother at the beach in front of Sol Beach Resort, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do.

Cha, who discovered the accident at the time, immediately reported to 119 and threw a rope nearby to save two 14-year-old and 12-year-old boys first.

After that, he tied another rope to his body and asked his acquaintances to hold it, and then swam about 60m into the sea to rescue the student's mother and a 13-year-old boy.
