The body of an infant was found in front of the'Baby Box', a simple shelter that temporarily protects infants who gave up raising, and the police investigated.

According to the police on the 3rd, the Seoul Gwanak Police Station received a report that the body of a boy wrapped in a pink towel was found in a pile of construction materials opposite the baby box installed at the Jusaang Community Church in Gwanak-gu at around 5:30 am.

It is said that the baby had an umbilical cord and placenta attached.

As a result of the police securing and analyzing a nearby CCTV, a scene of a woman leaving an infant on a drum was caught at around 10:10 pm the previous day.

Police believe the baby was still alive the night before, given that a passerby found the infant's body under the drum.

An official from Joo Sarang Community Church said, "Even though the lights are on late at night and are operating'Baby Box' and'Baby Room' to keep babies warm, putting babies on construction materials on a rainy night is an organic act." "The CCTV resolution is not high, so it's hard to find a baby left outside late at night," he said.

The police will look for women who have left infants behind and investigate the details.

A police official said, "It has not yet been confirmed whether the woman on the CCTV is her mother," and said, "We are investigating the possibility that the infant was left incorrectly because we do not know the location of the baby box."
