Prosecutors said they had seized and searched McDonald's office in South Korea for allegations of causing so-called'hamburger disease' by using undercooked patties in hamburgers.

McDonald's was accused by a civic group in January of last year for suspicion of causing hemolytic uremic syndrome, so-called hamburger disease, in which kidney function declines due to bacterial infection.
The case broke out in 2016 when a 4-year-old child contracted hemolytic uremic syndrome and was diagnosed with a kidney failure level 2.
The child's parents sued McDonald's Korea in July 2017 for violating the food safety law, claiming that the cause of the child's illness was the undercooked patties of McDonald's hamburgers.
However, seven months later, the prosecution dismissed McDonald's for insufficient evidence, and only three food company officials were prosecuted.
As a result, nine civic groups have again accused McDonald's corporations of violating the Food Sanitation Act and accusing them of negligence in their work.
In the case of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office last year, the need for a re-investigation was raised as a member of the Democratic Party, who was awarded a commendation at the time of the commendation, "McDonald's requested a false statement from the employee during the investigation.
