Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Jeong-soon, who was charged with violating the Public Office Election Act, has been detained.

Cheongju District Law Deputy Chief Judge Kim Yang-hee in charge of warrants issued a warrant of arrest requested against Chung on charges of committing accounting fraud and receiving illegal political funds in the 4-15 general elections.

This is the first time an active lawmaker has been arrested in the 21st National Assembly.

On the 29th of last month, when a motion for arrest was passed in the National Assembly, Chung appeared at the prosecution on the 31st, two days later.

The prosecution requested a warrant for arrest because there was little concern that Chung would escape or destroy the evidence, but judged that most of the crimes would be explained.
