We recently delivered the news that mart workers, who have to move hundreds of heavy boxes every day, ask for a handle on the boxes.

Part of this request was accepted, so the hypermarkets decided to make handles on their own branded merchandise boxes.

Inside the warehouse of a hypermarket, mart employees move heavy boxes by putting their hands into a hole in the side of the box.

This is a handle made on the mart's own brand product box to ease the burden of carrying the mart staff.

[Jaebon Oh/Homeplus: I keep holding heavy things, and because I don't have a handle in a bad posture...

It is much easier to lift if there is a hole because of the difference in lifting posture and this.]

Workers in the mart have asked for a handle on the box, claiming that they suffered from musculoskeletal disorders while carrying a heavy box.

Three marts, including E-Mart, Lotte Mart, and Homeplus, decided to make handles for their own brand and PB product boxes in sequence, and submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

[Kim Hyun-ra / Homeplus manager: We plan to continuously expand box handles, focusing on PB products in consultation with manufacturers.]

Homeplus is 29% of all PB products, and Lotte Mart is 15% of products. He announced that he would install a handle within this year.

E-Mart, which has the most PB products, plans to complete 100% installation of handles by next year in boxes that can make handles among products over 5 kg.

Mart workers are also urged to prepare measures for general manufacturers' products, which cannot be requested by hypermarkets, requiring voluntary participation from the manufacturing industry.
