“There are some (so far it is not known which) coronaviruses in bats living in Russia.

Which ones are the subject of research.

The study also made it possible to establish the sequence of the genomes of a number of other viruses (not coronaviruses), which were found "at the same time," the scientist told RIA Novosti.

Speranskaya clarified that bats are no more dangerous than other wild animals, such as foxes and hedgehogs, which can carry viruses that are dangerous to humans.

She added that it is enough for a person not to touch bats and not to destroy their habitats.

The specialist emphasized that the study of these animals has not yet been completed, it will continue for about two more years.

In July, it became known that Russian scientists plan to examine the genomes of Siberian bats for the presence of coronavirus.
