Supreme Court has confirmed a court ruling that sentenced former President Lee, who was charged with bribery under the Specific Crimes Weighted Penalty Act, to 17 years in prison, a fine of 13 billion won, and an additional fine of 5,780 million won.

Former President Lee has been indicted and tried on charges of embezzling money from Das, an auto parts company, and bribing Das' US lawsuits, which Samsung Electronics paid for him.

The first trial judged guilty of embezzling 24.6 billion won for embezzlement of 24.6 billion won, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of 13 billion won after acknowledging the charges of bribery of 8.5 billion won.

Former President Lee immediately appealed, but the second-trial court determined that the amount of bribery accreditation and embezzlement was higher, so the sentence was increased by two years.

And the Supreme Court dismissed both the appeals of the former president and the prosecutor, saying there was no error in the ruling of the court below regarding the acknowledgment of embezzlement and bribery.

The Supreme Court also dismissed the reappeal case in which former President Lee objected to the High Court's decision to cancel bail, and Lee is scheduled to be held in jail again.

However, the prosecution agreed to accept Lee's request to postpone the execution of the sentence and, in accordance with the regulations, gave him a three-day period before proceeding with the re-prison procedure on the following Monday.
