Citizens' opinions differ when they hear that karaoke rooms and game consoles have been installed for prisoners in Jeonju Prison, Jeonbuk.

'Even if you have committed a crime, entertainment is necessary to guarantee human rights' and'there is excessive consideration for those who have suffered others'.

According to Jeonju Prison, the prison opened a facility to relieve stress in prisoners today (28th).

In the facility named'Mind and Body Healing Room', there are 3 karaoke rooms equipped with lighting and sound equipment, 2 mole-catching game machines, and a consultation room.

Jeonju Prison has been preparing to install facilities since the beginning of this year with the help of the Correctional Council.

Until the opening, it was reported that the cost was worth 50 million won.

Karaoke rooms are operated by receiving applications for inmates and using them for up to 1 hour.

Prisoners with high imprisonment stress, such as on death row or suicide or self-harm, have priority.

The facility is opened once a week first, and if there is a request, the door is opened for consideration.

It is free of charge.

Jeonju Prison explained that it installed a healing room while considering the establishment of facilities in consideration of prisoners in a situation where rehabilitation and religious events were limited due to Corona 19.

It is known that this is the first case in the country that karaoke rooms and game machines were installed in the prison.

Viewing it is divided.

Mr. Choi, 41, living in Jeonju, said, "I know that the prison has a playground or fitness facility, but I don't know if there is a need to even build a karaoke room. What would the victims of terrible crimes think if they knew this?" It.

On the other hand, Mr. Mo (33) Kim said, "Some people may have been trapped by mistake at a young age, but if there is such a facility in the prison, it may give them peace of mind."

Jeonju Prison said that it was taking into consideration the improvement of the human rights of prisoners and that it would operate the facility for the purpose of correction.

An official at Jeonju Prison explained, "This facility was built for the purpose of improving the human rights and the right to pursue happiness of inmates. It is not open at any time, and we will thoroughly manage the facility so that it can be used according to the purpose."
