On the 22nd, the Ministry of Defense brought construction equipment to the THAAD (high-altitude missile defense system) base in Seongju, Gyeongbuk.

The remodeling work of the old barracks is underway, and construction materials and equipment have been brought in.

The 31 units, including dump trucks, were loaded with sand and gravel, as well as a crane.

The Ministry of Defense explained that "(THAAD) is not related to performance improvement, but construction equipment, materials, and living materials of soldiers were brought in."

About 70 residents who opposed the construction of the Saad base put themselves in a ladder-shaped structure at the Jinbat Bridge at the entrance to the base and resisted the dissolution of the police.

Residents shouted slogans such as "Go to THAAD and come to peace" and "Withdrawal of construction equipment," and "Pick THAAD and be a peacemaker" held a picketing demonstration.

The police broadcasted warnings several times, saying, "Please stop illegal activities and move to a safe place."

A safety mat was laid under the Jinbat Bridge, and the car parked at the entrance of the Jinbat Bridge was removed by residents.

Residents stubbornly confronted it from 12:20 on the day, but the police mobilized about 700 people to quarantine the residents within an hour and 15 minutes.
