Facebook announced this Monday to developers that the programming interface (API) of Messenger will be updated to become compatible with Instagram.

A beta version of this new version of the API is currently being tested by developers and brands selected by the social network, explained on the company's blog Marion Boiteux, product manager.

The novelty is aimed at companies and presented as "a new tool to manage communication with their customers on a large and small scale".

Through this change, Facebook explains that it wants to help professional Messenger users to increase their sales, develop meaningful exchanges and improve customer satisfaction.

Companies will eventually be able to integrate Instagram messages into their strategy.

A "huge opportunity"

Facebook indicates that in one year, the number of messages exchanged via Instagram between brands and their customers has increased by 40%.

This means of communication therefore constitutes a “huge opportunity” for businesses.

Users will be able to use a single interface to interact on multiple platforms.

Companies will be able to work with a developer to complete the integration.

The results obtained in the tests conducted before a larger deployment are satisfactory, says Facebook.

The social network cites in particular a greater number of responses to customers, more detailed messages from the latter and a reduced reaction time.
