The prosecution sought a medium sentence for an elderly mother in her 70s who was accused of strangling her 50-year-old son, who was in conflict over drinking alcohol frequently.

At a decision trial held on the 20th at the hearing of the 15th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court (Judge Pyo Gyeong-chang), the prosecution sought 20 years in prison for A (76), who was charged with murder.

An official at the prosecution said, "The defendant said,'It was pitiful for his son to drink only alcohol, and he killed him.'" He said, "the defendant is 76 years old and considered that he surrendered to the police."

In his final statement, Mr. A cried out, saying, "If my son only drank alcohol, he almost never felt sane," and he cried, "There was no hope, and he was really sorry for the crime."

Earlier, the judge asked the defendant to replay the scene at the time of the crime in court on the 24th of last month, saying that it was questionable whether it would be possible for a 76-year-old old mother to kill a son over 100kg in weight.

The judge also questioned whether a towel measuring 40 cm wide and 70 cm long could be used as a tool for killing, saying that it would be thicker than a string.

However, after re-enacting the crime, Mr. A said, "My son said he would drink more and called here and there." He said, "I struck my head from behind (with a soju bottle), but I was conscious and turned it with a towel and strangled me." I admitted.

In the court on that day, a prosecutor who said the investigation was taking into account the possibility of involvement by a judge and a third party that there were doubts due to insufficient investigation was also engaged in a nervous war.

Judge Pyo said, "I personally reenacted in the office," and said, "I asked the female staff to tighten my neck with a towel, but it didn't bleed, but no matter how much I could breathe, it was uncomfortable."

He pointed out that "the crime is so serious that one innocent person should not be punished even if 10 criminals are missed," he said. "There are many suspicions about the statement (of the defendant, etc.), but the investigation was too low."

An official at the prosecution said, "The victim did not die immediately at the scene of the case, but was transferred to the hospital after showing hypoxia and died." Did not accept it."

Before the decision trial, Mr. A's daughter appeared as a witness and said, "My brother beat my mother, who is easy to use," and said, "Because I was divorced and couldn't send child support, I couldn't see my son, and I couldn't make money.

Mr. A was charged with strangling his son B (51) at his home in Michuhol-gu, Incheon on April 20 this year at around 0:56 and strangling his son with a alcohol bottle.

Mr. B was moved to a nearby hospital for treatment, but died the morning of the day.

Immediately after the crime, Mr. A reported directly to 112 that he "strangled his son," and was arrested as a current offender by the police.

At the time, Mr. B was intoxicated, but it was investigated that Mr. A did not drink alcohol.

Mr. A stated in a police investigation that "the son who lives with him usually ate a lot of alcohol and had frequent quarrels with his family."
