An Indian in her twenties with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) molested a teenage girl and was handed over to trial and sentenced to probation.

The Bucheon Branch of the Incheon District Law Criminal Division (Judge Immigration District) announced that A (28), an Indian who was charged with violating the Immigration Control Act and forced harassment, was sentenced to one year in prison and two years probation.

Mr. A was accused of forcibly molesting the body of a teenager B on the road in front of a parking lot in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do around 2 am on March 29 this year.

It was investigated that he committed a crime to Miss B who first saw him on the street, saying, "I have a lot of money. Go. Let's go together."

Mr. B, who entered Korea with a short-term visit (C-3-4) status in 2016, was also charged with staying illegally even after his period of stay ended in July of last year.

During the trial, Mr. A completely denied the charges, saying, "I approached Ms. B and put her coat on, but he has never been harassed."

However, the court judged that "the victim is consistently stating the accused's harassment method," and "it is so specific that it is difficult to make a statement without direct experience."

He added, "The defendant has been guilty of assaulting a victim accidentally encountered on the street while staying illegally beyond the period of stay," he added.

However, the court stated the reason for the sentence, saying, "We considered the fact that the defendant appears to have deteriorated very much due to diseases such as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome."
