Hovik Keuchkerian plays Salva, the leader of a riot squad.
The actor gives life to the leader of the police group that stars in 'Anti-riot', an action and intrigue series created by Rodrigo Sorogoyen and that Movistar + premieres on October 16
Hovik Keuchkerian, who has appeared in films such as 'Scorpion in Love' and 'Assassin's Creed', is one of the stars of 'The Paper House'
In
Anti-Riot
, the series directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen
(winner of three Goya Awards and director of films such as
May God forgive us
or
The kingdom
) and premieres on Movistar + on October 16,
Hovik Keuchkerian gets into Salva's shoes.
His calm nature defines the personality of his character and is an advantage when dealing with the problems faced by a special group of the National Police in Madrid.
At the beginning of the series, written by Sorogoyen in collaboration with Isabel Peña and Eduardo Villanueva, we see those
six agents (played by Raúl Arévalo, Álex García, Roberto Álamo, Hovik Keuchkerian, Raúl Prieto and Patrick Criado) going to a block of flats
dilapidated to assist in an eviction.
Since his arrival at the building, the tension has grown and a failure turns into a tragic accident that gives rise to a subsequent investigation in which Laia (Vicky Luengo), a fundamental character and full of surprises, has a lot to do with it.
From there,
various subplots reflect issues such as corruption, the power struggle, the
prevailing
machismo
in society
or how difficult it is to keep a hidden lie
when there are many people involved.
From left to right, Raúl Prieto, Raúl Arévalo, Hovik Keuchkerian, Álex García and Patrick Criado.
For Hovik Keuchkerian, the magnitude of this project and its potential to win over audiences was evident as soon as the script was received:
"When I started to turn the pages I saw right away that it was exceptionally well written and defined.
From the start, it seemed like a starting point. very good. Come on, my feeling was that it was very well planned. Something that I have corroborated during the filming, then with the editing and now that the series is ready for the public to see on Movistar + ".
Salva
, who has been behind his back for many years as a riot police,
is a guy who "shares everything with his companions. He loves them, cares for them and protects them.
He, who has a disastrous personal life after having to spend two pensions and dragging problems physical, he finds his real family in that group, "says the actor of Lebanese origin.
However, what happens in that eviction will put you in a very uncomfortable situation.
The six-part series stands out for recreating scenes of tension that are very realistic.
"
Anti-riot
is told from neutrality and describes the conflicts of a group of agents
and what happens to each of them both in their personal life and in their work. I hope the viewer likes that. People are going to freak out with it. What I would like to point out is that I would not be surprised if people started with a predetermined idea of this series and, when they see it, they start to freak out. I have told Sorogoyen, the director, that
I think that from the second chapter of the six that make up the series, more than one is going to forget that they are out in riot gear
and will only see people with their lives. "
Regarding the spectacular nature of some scenes, among which several sequence shots, street fights shot camera in hand and countless shots with the actors glued to the lens stand out, Hovik is sincere: "I think that
neither in Spain nor abroad has anything similar to
Riot Control
been seen
. It reflects a hard truth and without makeup.
And I think it has been a success to have rehearsed, prepared and shot the sequences with several repetitions. As a director,
Rodrigo Sorogoyen is not worth something with 98 percent. He wants 100 percent for that everything turns out perfect.
And he leads by example. Before working with him, I admit that I saw his films and it seemed spectacular to immerse myself in stories that attract you from beginning to end. "
Salva (Hovik Keuchkerian), before a 'storm' breaks out next to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
And, about what an agent can experience in the middle of a situation on the edge, the interpreter adds: "I do not know what will go through the head of a riot police officer in a moment of maximum tension, but surely he is afraid.
How many more The times you have faced fear, the more times you will be prepared to face it.
In certain situations in life, not being afraid entails a high level of unconsciousness. "
Hovik Keuchkerian, who
already knows what it is to 'suffer in his flesh' the fan effect after appearing in
La casa de papel
("no one can understand the global dimensions that this crazy fan has had, but I am pleased that it happened with a Spanish series ", says the interpreter of films like
Alacrán enamorado
,
Assassin's Creed
or
4 cans
),
is recognized as a" consumer of series and also of movies "
and launches one last recommendation:" everyone can approach
Riot Control
in the way they prefer. Anyone who has already seen it knows that he cannot stop watching it one after another, one chapter after another. As someone starts on a Saturday after eating, they still don't get up from the couch until late at night. "
Laia (Vicky Luengo), along with Diego (Raúl Arévalo), at one point during filming.
Finally, Keuchkerian has
a memory for what was his gym for 20 years in the Madrid neighborhood of Hortaleza
.
"Business is for the boss to be there. I had my gym and it was a wonderful time, but I had to leave it to be an actor. There I met great people and it has been a great school that I keep many friends from. They have witnessed my evolution as a performer ".
