<Reporter> The

coastal control work is in full swing off the coast of Ulju-gun, Ulsan.

At the dawn of the 11th of last month, 16 tons of oil leaked from the offshore oil transfer facility of the Korea National Oil Corporation, aka'Buy'.

The polluted sea area reached 4,000 square meters, half the size of a soccer field, and it took 34 hours to clean up.

Oil was also poured into Gangyang Port, 4 km from the accident, and more than 150 residents of the village began fighting for 8 days.

[Kim Yun-cheol/Ulsan Ulju-gun Gangyang-ri fishing village chief: I did not take a day off for 8 days and worked on oil control.

We have to live by collecting abalone, sea cucumber, and conch, but all of these are dead and our fishermen are now crying.] This

is a video of a diver's work that the Korea Petroleum Corporation put in right after the accident.

Turn the bolts on the facility to the left one after another to lock it.

The cause of the oil spill was that the bolts of the buoy facility that moved crude oil from the tanker to the submarine pipeline were loosened.

However, the Korea Petroleum Corporation evaluated that there was no problem with the facility during frequent inspections the day before the accident.

If you look at the checklist at the time, it is recorded that there is nothing wrong with the facility.

[Ko Min-jung/ Democratic Party Member (National Assembly Industry Committee): (Oil spill) is a serious accident that destroys the marine ecosystem and, above all, threatens the safety of the people.

Even though safety checks were conducted one day before the spill, an accident occurred.

Perhaps there was an insolvency check...

.] The

Coast Guard recently confiscated and searched the petroleum corporation, and until recently, the investigation has been expanded to include refiners using the buoy.
