Today (15th), the second criminal division of the Jeju District Court (Chief Judge Chan-soo Jang) sentenced Mr. A to 7 years in prison for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.
In addition, the court ordered 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program completion and employment restrictions for children and youth-related institutions for 10 years.
In the winter of 2019, Mr. A is accused of engaging in similar sexual acts twice by his 12-year-old daughter with an intellectual disability at his home in Jeju City.
As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A had a history of being punished for a similar crime in the past.
Mr. A is known to have appealed to the judge, saying, "It was an accidental crime committed while drunk. I have to divorce my wife and take care of the children."
However, the court sentenced him to imprisonment, saying, "The defendant, as a father, has an obligation to protect his disabled daughter safely, but commits a sexual offense and is very guilty."
