A man in his 60s, who was deceived by voice phishing and left the house with a ton of money, escaped damage thanks to his wife's'intuition'.

According to the Busan Police Agency today (15th), an urgent call came to the 112 General Situation Room of the National Police Agency around 6 pm the previous day.

The reporter was Mr. A, a woman living in Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do, not Busan.

"My husband withdrew 30 million won and went to Busan, but I think he was voice phishing."

The police immediately tried to speak to her husband B, but Mr. B was still on the phone with someone.

The police tracked the location of the mobile phone and found out that Mr. B was in Gaya-dong, Busanjin-gu.

Three patrol cars and a criminal team were dispatched to the scene, and found Mr. B at Donguidae Station on the urban railway within 30 minutes of reporting.

After the police persuaded him, in the end, Mr. B took the cash and safely returned home.

According to the police, Mr. B was almost deceived by the voice phishing gang who pretended to be an investigation agency. Lee said, "Your bankbook is at risk of criminal damage, so it is safer to withdraw cash and leave it to us, the Financial Supervisory Service," he was said to have tricked Mr. B.

A police official who was dispatched to the scene explained that “it was almost a situation that would have been a big deal even if it was only five minutes late.”
